The word "stand" indicates confidence...and since we have no confidence in ourselves or this world, the source of our confidence is the Lord. When we have faith in Him...faith that can move mountains...we can stand up against whatever comes our way. We can stand upon the knowledge that we have no strength apart from Him.
"Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong." --1 Corinthians 16:13
"Now I stand on solid ground,and I will publicly praise the Lord." --Psalm 26:12
"But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and He will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God!" --Job 19:25-26
"Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand." --Ephesians 6:13
"If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all." --Isaiah 7:9b
"When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever." --Proverbs 10:25
So...do not go through your life (or even just today) stagnant...do not be spineless...do not be timid...do not be unsure...do not be complacent...do not be comfortable. Stand up and be ready to embark on whatever journey the Lord has for you. Rely on His strength. Trust Him always.
